Afterimage

Bernadette Negrete is a Mexican-American multi-disciplinary artist and poet working primarily with paper, wood, and poetry. Her practice operates between contemporary art and craft, balancing restraint and tenderness while engaging questions of sexuality, femininity, family and feeling. Negrete received her BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute in 2022 and currently works as an educator for Adult Programs at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, Missouri. She also teaches poetry in the Continuing Education program at the Kansas City Art Institute. Her work has been published in magazines and journals across North America.
